WOMEN AND CATS SERIES SCULPTURES

This series explores the intimate and comforting companionship between cats and their humans. The work is meant to communicate gentleness, whimsicality, and playfulness. The artist continues to incorporate her signature visceral texture, that was first explored in the shadow series. Additionally, this work, like the majority of the artist’s work, is still largely autobiographical in nature and speaks to the artist’s loving relationship with her cat, Perl.

The technique of creating the original woman and cat sculptures involves a different process to the Shadow Series. All women and cats were created through the use of plasticine and wax in order to continue the visual language that was first introduced with the melted black plastic texture as seen in the Shadow Series.
